A preservation breast augmentation is a surgical technique that preserves natural breast tissue using specialized instruments and devices. This technique has gained considerable popularity due to the significant reduction in post-operative pain and recovery time, and the preservation of breast tissue, fat, nerves, and muscle. During a preservation breast augmentation, the implants are placed in a subfascial plane above the pectoral muscle and below the thin layer of fascia covering it. This is in contrast to other techniques that cut through or separate the muscle.

During this initial meeting with Dr. Gallagher, you will discuss a range of topics regarding procedure, such as the risks, benefits, recovery steps, and your candidacy. Dr. Gallagher will perform a thorough examination of your breasts to make sure your goals align with the benefits of the procedure. You may be able to compare different implants to see which ones best suit your goals.

By the end of the consultation, you will find out if you qualify for the procedure and if you wish to proceed. If you are approved and wish to proceed with the surgery, Dr. Gallagher will create a treatment plan that is completely customized for your unique needs, goals, and budget.

What to Expect on the Day of Preservation Breast Augmentation Surgery

Your preservation breast augmentation will take place at our beautiful office in Miami. Dr. Gallagher performs breast preservation augmentations under general anesthesia to ensure her patients feel completely relaxed without any worry of pain during the surgery.

After the anesthesia has been administered and you are fully asleep, Dr. Gallagher will create small incisions, typically 2.5-3cm long, along the breast crease so that they will be well-hidden after recovery. Dr. Gallagher will then use the specialized tools, involving a balloon-like device, to gently stretch the tissues, forming a pocket for the implants. Once the pocket is open, she will gently place the implants inside to rest and close the incisions with skin glue and dissolvable stitches. Finally, she will place a surgical bra around you to keep the swelling down and the implants in place.

You will be woken up from the procedure and will likely feel groggy. To make sure you get home safely, someone will need to pick you up, whom you will need to prepare ahead of the surgery.

Preservation Breast Augmentation Recovery

Your Guide to Post-Preservation Breast Augmentation Care

Like any surgery, the recovery process is as important as the procedure itself. Following recovery steps closely will optimize your desired results and minimize complications.

As much as hitting the Miami beach right after your surgery sounds nice, you will need to take several days of rest before it’s safe to do so. Your breasts will be swollen, bruised, and sore, and you will need to sleep and rest on your back as much as possible for the first few days. You can go on light walks to boost circulation, but you should wear your compression bra and a loose shirt. You can take a shower the day after your surgery without your surgical bra, but be gentle as you wash yourself, as the incisions will still be healing.

Moderate exercise is acceptable after a couple of weeks. Stay away from strenuous exercise for at least 4-6 weeks or until Dr. Gallagher tells you it’s okay. You should attend all follow-up appointments with Dr. Gallagher to ensure you are healing and recovering properly.

    Dr. Gallagher and her team are the absolute best! She completed my brachioplasty on Tuesday and when I saw the initial results at my post op appointment two days later I literally had tears of joy streaming down my face.
