What Is Zero-Depth Bottom Surgery?

It means feminizing the genitalia, i.e., removing the penis, creating a clitoris, removing the testicles and scrotum, and creating labia lips. However, unlike a full vaginoplasty, the doctor does not make a vaginal canal, but instead just creates the appearance of one, which is known as a “dimple”. What to Expect on the Day of Zero-Depth Bottom Surgery

Zero-depth bottom surgery usually takes 3-4 hours to complete. Included in the surgery is an orchiectomy, penectomy, labiaplasty, and the creation of a clitoris. Sensation is preserved through the glans of the penis, with the neurovascular element of the penis shaft attached and positioned atop the pubic bone to create a realistic clitoris and clitoral hood. A functioning urethra is sculpted and repositioned below the clitoris. Dr. Gallagher then uses the scrotal skin and fat pads to make the labia lips. Finally, penile skin can be used to create the appearance of a vaginal canal. The prostate gland remains unmoved.

Your Guide to Post-Zero-Depth Bottom Surgery Care

Depending on the patient’s job, typically 2 to 4 weeks of leave are needed.

Recovery from zero-depth is much easier compared to vaginoplasty, as no dilation is required.

The details of the recovery process can vary from patient to patient. However, Dr. Gallagher will provide a customized aftercare plan and prescriptions for pain medication to ensure you are comfortable as you heal. Drains and dressings will be removed at one week post-op. Patients should avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for 4 to 6 weeks.

    Dr. Gallagher and her team are the absolute best!
