I had an amazing experience with Dr.Gallagher and her team, the whole experience from the procedure (top surgery) to the post-op care has been fantastic. Dr.Gallagher was able to address any concerns I had with my chest before the procedure and made me feel comfortable the whole way through, and then the attentiveness post-op is all the better.
What Is MTF Labiaplasty?
Every attempt is made at the original bottom surgery to give a pleasing, natural appearance. However, some things may need to be addressed at a later surgery. Labiaplasty is a term used to describe any modification a patient may need to improve the appearance of the labia. The most common procedure is to make the labia majora meet in the midline at the front. This can’t be done at the first surgery due to the blood supply to the vagina. Therefore, labiaplasty is not a revision but a planned stage in the bottom surgery process. Dr Gallagher, however, does offer labiaplasty to patients who have undergone bottom surgery elsewhere.
Patients are encouraged to wait nine to twelve months after bottom surgery before undergoing labiaplasty. This allows everything to heal and is the safest route. Not all patients want or need this surgery, but it can be used to enhance appearance and remove annoying scars or lumps.
Recovery from this surgery largely depends on the extent of the procedure. In some cases, the patient may not even have to go to sleep. Typically, it is an outpatient procedure, allowing for a few days off work.
